SE Alaska is littered with this stuff. The coastal areas were mostly logged off about 100 years ago with old technologies--most of which lies buried. Made a garden table out of this.

Brett: Thanks for your reply. I don't know how many responses I've received to this problem. Even our harbormaster asked me about my problems when their two 225hp Mercury engines failed (they replaced them with Yahamas). So far I've convinced 6 people here not to purchase Mercurys and if everyone who has experienced what I have does this, Mercury will get the message--or perhaps they won't and we'll lose more jobs overseas. While I generally try to support American manufacturing, I'm loathe to admit I also drive two Toyotas because American auto manufacturing has suffered the same fate--that of poor designs, band-aid fixes, and terrible customer service. I currently run a small publishing company and everything is "Made in USA" and we guarantee 100% satisfaction--no questions asked. It worked for the likes of Eddie Bauer and Nordstroms and it works for me. Spread the word--the customer is always right.

Doug,
I ran across your story with Mercury Marine. You are not alone. I am having a similar nightmare with the same motor 2006 model. I had a rude response from them that sums up like this "good luck in your search for another motor - their response to my promise of replacing the lemon with a Honda"
The voltage regulator problem is something which they are ducking a class action lawsuit. They offer a kit that changes the exhaust manifold and installs a heat sensor. The regulator mounts on the exhaust manifold and would get hot- melt the wiring and cause a fire. The kit gives you a fuse (?) link and the aformentioned heat sensor. This is a cheap fix to lousy engineering. I too am somewhat mechanically inclined, having been a towboat skipper for 12 years. I will never purchase a Mercury again and I pass my story on every chance i get.
Good luck

I just stumbled on your website and blog. I love the recreated scenes from the posters in your blog.I have long loved the Jenny Lake Museum poster that I bought at a gallery in Jackson, WY in mid to late 90s. The Ft. Marion one above reminds me of it's colors. The Jenny Lake one is proudly framed and hanging in my house.
I have always had a thing for that eras poster art so I'm very excited to see that I can splurge on a few more.
Thanks so much.

Fort Marion will be carrying this poster beginning next season however, for the past 15 years this is the only park that wouldn't carry their own WPA poster--puzzling, to say the least. We offer all screened prints online of course. Thanks for your kind comments.

I was at Ft. Marion in October and asked if they had your poster for sale. The lady said they did not but you had been there to talk to them about it.

Needless to say we will be ordering it from you!

I've started my own collection based on National Parks I've visited - currently I have two (Mesa Verde and Petrified Forest) but will soon be adding Ft. Marion and the Blue Ridge Parkway. My wife and I intend on purchasing (and then framing) more when we head to Yellowstone next fall.

Thanks again for making these great prints available!

Although I didn't actually live in the castle, I did live on the grounds while we tried to restore it after my now deceased husband and I bought it back in November, 1960. Unfortunately, our ownership was a horror story that appeared in most of the Westchester newspapers in 1963. The Ossining Citizen Register printed our story, written by my husband, on February 28, 1963. I have a scrapbook full of letters, articles and photos about the years we owned it. It is very sad that the outside now looks pretty much the same as it did 50 years ago
